CAD Development Associate, Interior Design

General Job Description:
The Development Associate [CAD | Product Development] will work the the design team to coordinate specification documentation and AutoCad drawings for all aspects of project design and product development.

  • Schematic Design and Design Development

    • Prepare work under direction of Senior Project Managers to document site conditions and coordinate project-related correspondence.

    • Assist Senior Project Managers to execute conceptual designs for renovation and new build construction, including detailed hand drawings, AutoCAD drawings, and SketchUp modeling.  

    • Assist with identification of specifications and prepare schedules and documentation for construction implementation.

    • Prepare project boards for presentation to client.  

  • Construction Administration

    • Work with project team, including architects, general contractors, and trades by providing drawings and comprehensive specification information to all applicable parties to ensure proper execution of design concepts in the field.

    • Coordinate shop drawing review with team members.  

  • Procurement and Product Development

    • Assist with development of custom furniture, furnishings, and lighting for design project procurement and brand partners.

    • Prepare detailed hand drawings, AutoCAD drawings, and SketchUp modeling to convey aesthetic design intent to trade fabricators.  

    • Maintain organized specification documentation, including finish samples, drawings sets, and schedules.  

    • Coordinate shop drawing review with team members.  

  • Administrative

    • Answer incoming calls, assist with mailings, scheduling, and additional duties as requested.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an interior design, architecture, or product development environment.  

  • Four year degree in interior design, architecture, or related field.

  • NCIDQ (National Council of Interior Design Qualifications) Certification and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification a plus.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of interior design.

  • High proficiency in AutoCAD and hand drafting; including floor plans, furniture plans, millwork detail drawings, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, custom furniture designs, and perspective drawings.  Proficiency in Revit a plus.

  • Proficient in Design Manager software a plus.

  • Presentation and graphic design skills a plus; including proficiency in SketchUp, Photoshop, and 3D rendering software.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.

  • Works well in a collaborative setting.  Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; however, must also be able to work independently and proactively on projects without supervision using tact and discretion.

  • Highly organized, accurate, and neat in all aspects of the job.

  • Works well under pressure; able to multi-task, prioritize, and consistently meet deadlines.  

  • Able to follow through on multiple projects with both short-term and long-term objectives.

  • Available to work additional hours, as occasionally required to meet deadlines.

  • Vehicle and valid driver’s license required.
